When Carrie Underwood isn’t breaking records with her Las Vegas residency, she’s playing fairy godmother to seriously ill children.

Just before wrapping up her three-year, 72-show run at Resorts World on April 12, the American Idol judge, 42, presented Make-A-Wish Foundation officials with a check for a whopping $236,844.

“Carrie knew her Vegas run would be a big money-maker and wanted to donate a dollar from every ticket she sold to Make-A-Wish,” says an insider. “And her residency went on so long, that donation turned out to be a whopper.”

In addition to her monetary gifts, the generous songbird is one of the organization’s top “wish makers” — she has personally met with more than 60 kids who wanted to get up close and personal with her.

“She’s had so much success, money and fame in her career that she actually sometimes feels guilty about her good fortune,” the insider adds. “Putting a smile on the faces of kids — some of them terminally ill — makes her feel like she is paying it forward.”

The Jesus, Take the Wheel singer has been one of the most active celebrity supporters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was founded in 1980 to grant the wishes of seriously ill children. Their dreams have included everything from being a cop, firefighter or zookeeper for a day, to reunions with faraway best friends, trips to Disney World, vacations on tropical islands and meetings with celebrity idols.

Besides Carrie, stars including John Cena, Beyoncé, Johnny Depp and Dwayne Johnson have made sick kids’ dreams of meeting them come true. Other children have met with sports icons, including Michael Jordan, David Ortiz and Patrick Mahomes.

“Carrie is so thankful that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, have two healthy kids, and she works hard to help children who are less fortunate,” the insider says.
