Carnie Wilson Admits She Used To Get ‘Butterflies’ Around ‘Mysterious’ Uncle Dennis Wilson
“Hold On” songbird Carnie Wilson confesses that when she was a girl, she had a tough time holding back around her Beach Boys star uncle Dennis Wilson.
Carnie, the 57-year-old daughter of Brian Wilson, the group’s cofounder and Dennis’ brother, recalls: “He was always, like, this mysterious, sexy man, and he was my uncle. But like, I’d get butterflies around him. He’s very handsome. He was very sensitive.”
She was devastated at age 15 when Uncle Dennis — who’d battled drugs and alcohol — died on Dec. 28, 1983.
The 39-year-old “Surfin’ U.S.A.” singer drowned while out on a 52-foot yacht at Marina Del Rey. “He was just being Dennis, entertaining everybody, being his lovable self, goofing around,” the boat’s owner Bill Oster later said.
