On a surprise Nov. 12 appearance, Kathie Lee, 66, stole the spotlight from co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager as they clinked glasses and gabbed about what she’d been doing since moving to Nashville after leaving the show seven months ago.
Now, show bosses are convinced she’s the spark they need to keep the once-top breakfast show from plummeting into a ratings abyss that followed the booting of sex scandal-scarred anchor Matt Lauer in 2017.
“She could bring back many of the viewers they lost in the wake of the Matt Lauer scandal,” snitches an insider. “She is happily living in the country, but producers are pulling out all the stops to lure her back.
